Trump launches America.gov as a single AI entry point for U.S. federal services

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sept. 29 introduced America.gov, a new portal designed to serve as a single entry point for federal government services. According to a White House explainer, users can ask questions in plain language and receive answers, with direct transaction capabilities planned as the system expands. Trump also signed an executive order the same day directing federal agencies to integrate into the platform. FedScoop reported that the site opens with a single prompt box carrying the message, "Whatever you need the government to do, start here." The platform pulls together information from roughly 29,000 government websites. Joe Gebbia, the U.S. chief designer and Airbnb co-founder, said on CNBC that the system runs on Google Gemini and xAI's Grok. Under the executive order, the General Services Administration, the U.S. Digital Service's National Design Studio, and the Office of Management and Budget are responsible for building and operating the portal, alongside integration with Login.gov. Federal services with more than 100,000 annual users and online application capability are slated for inclusion, while IRS tax filing and national security-related defense and intelligence services are excluded. White House officials said passport renewal and Medicare enrollment are expected later this year, while full in-platform workflow and status tracking are planned for 2027.
